Our Story

Mission

Our Daily Bread feeds, shelters, and cares for the homeless and at-risk in our community while maintaining the dignity of our guests and offering opportunities for a new start.

Our New Facility

On December 12, 2022, Our Daily Bread had the honor of opening Denton County’s only 24/7 low barrier, emergency shelter. This facility, which was made possible through partnership with the City of Denton, has eliminated countless barriers that those experiencing homelessness encounter when seeking services. For the first time, our guests can receive meals, overnight shelter, and wraparound supportive services under one roof. Our goal in this new facility is to make services accessible and provide our guests with a sense of stability that allows them to overcome homelessness.

Our History

Our Daily Bread was born in 2000 through a collaboration of area churches with the vision to feed the hungry and homeless in our community.  Monsignor King Outreach Center began in 2009 when Monsignor Charles King opened the doors of his church to shelter the homeless during a cold winter.  Over time, both organizations expanded their services to be more than just a place to eat or sleep.

In 2020, Our Daily Bread and Monsignor King Outreach Center joined together with a single purpose - to offer help and hope to those in need of food, shelter, and care. As one organization we connect our guests to a community and resources that will move them forward toward meaningful, independent living.
