Our Daily Bread is seeking a part time unpaid intern to collaborate with existing employees on a 9 hour per week basis. This intern should be interested in applying their knowledge in Volunteer Management, Fundraising, Social Media and Marketing, and overall Nonprofit Leadership practices.
This intern will assist in various departments at Our Daily Bread their academic semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer). This will be an educational experience for students interested in pursuing a career in the nonprofit sector. This internship will primarily take place between the hours of 10am-4pm. However, there may be some opportunities for evening and weekend hours. We are willing to be flexible around school schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist Our Daily Bread’s Volunteer Coordinator with daily tasks. This includes working directly with volunteers to obtain effective leadership knowledge, as well as assisting with entries in our volunteer database.
Assist Our Daily Bread’s Development Director with social media postings, various donor relations, and tasks oriented around the events happening at the given time. These tasks will aid in acquiring relationship building skills and understanding the importance of a public presence.
Assist Our Daily Bread’s Executive Administrative Assistant with keeping record of donations, in-kind and monetary, as well as assisting with various other administrative needs, in order to provide a well-rounded view of the practices needed to upkeep an organization.
Assist Our Daily Bread’s Executive Director and Development Director in grant writing and grant research.
Assist leadership in the development of a systematic evaluation process of our current programs.
Requirements
A passion for the nonprofit/public sector with an eagerness to learn.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Critical thinking, problem-solving, written/verbal communication, adaptability, and initiative skills.
Punctual with a professional demeanor.

This internship will provide practical and relevant work experience in a nonprofit setting. Including shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with accomplished professionals. There will also be opportunities to interact with our guests. This will help to develop a greater knowledge of the homeless and at-risk in our community, and the various agencies that can provide them with services. This will include interactions with our partner agencies.

The Legal Advocate Intern will assist in providing support to the legal advocate case worker.
This internship offers hands-on experience in legal advocacy, case management, and administrative tasks. Interns will work closely with legal advocate caseworker and shelter staff to help manage and support cases, draft reports, and track client progress.
This internship will involve working in a low-barrier shelter legal office, shelter, or community organization. It includes both office-based tasks and fieldwork, including client meetings and case management activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Client and Case Support:
Meet with shelter guests to discuss their progress and needs.
Develop and maintain individualized plans for clients based on tasks assigned by the judge.
Assist clients in understanding and fulfilling their court-ordered requirements.
Legal Documentation and Communication:
Write detailed reports summarizing client meetings and case progress.
Draft and send emails to judges and court officials regarding deferred dispositions and other case updates.
Prepare and review legal documents and correspondence as needed.
Administrative Tasks:
Check and respond to voicemails and emails in a timely manner.
Update and maintain spreadsheets with case details, client information, and progress reports.
Ensure outcome charts and case tracking systems are current and accurate.
Data Management:
Assist in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data related to client outcomes.
Support the creation and maintenance of case files and documentation systems.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work closely with the legal advocate, docket clerk, case managers, and other legal professionals to support case management efforts.
Participate in team meetings and case discussions to provide updates and feedback.
Professional Development:
Attend training sessions and workshops as required.
Stay informed about relevant legal and social work practices and trends.
Requirements
Education: Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field.
Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to draft clear, concise reports and correspondence.
Proficiency in Google Docs, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Demonstrated interest in legal advocacy and social justice.
