Christmas Week
Christmas Week 2021 was a success! Thank you to everyone who donated to bring holiday cheer to our guests across all three of our locations. With help from our wonderful donors and volunteers, each of our guests received a backpack filled with hats, gloves, a scarf, hygiene products, and a blanket. Yet this was just the beginning of the festivities! As one of our guests described it
Wednesday, December 22, kicked off our celebrations at the Community Kitchen. Two hundred of our stuffed backpacks were gifted, and we raffled off 2 bikes, sleeping bags, and more. Buddy the Elf and Santa even joined in on the fun.
Come Thursday we were ready to celebrate with all of our guests in transitional housing. Our Director of Program Services, Dee Moore, asked our transitional housing guests what kind of Christmas celebration they would like. Their answer was that they wanted an atmosphere of family and belonging. By the end of the celebration, Dee was able to say that
It takes a group of dedicated and passionate people to pull together that amount of joy, and we cannot take all of the credit! Not only did Buddy the Elf make his second ODB appearance this week, but we were grateful to have the Robson Ranch Women’s Club bake and pack over eleven hundred cookies for our guests, and give them each a goodie bag filled with a coffee mug and a personalized card.
We finished off our week of joy at our overnight emergency shelter where everyone enjoyed pizza, cupcakes, cookies, hot chocolate, cornhole, live music, and more raffle prizes! It was the perfect way to end such a fun-filled week. We are blessed to be continuing traditions of Christmas Eve merriment at the shelter, while being able to start new traditions as our organization continues to grow. As always, thank you for the support and Merry Christmas!
