Meet Heather Singh!

With a background in clinical addiction counseling, and currently teaching yoga and offering somatic coaching in Denton, Heather has been providing trauma informed services with a focus on holistic care to our guests staying at the Overnight Emergency Shelter.

Our guests have the opportunity to learn about their nervous system while touching on body awareness and self regulations techniques. Much of this includes teaching participants how to use breath and inward focus.

Heather’s work involves applying ear acupressure seeds, following the NADA 5 Point Protocol to promote healing.

(1)  Sympathetic – calms the nervous system and helps with overall relaxation

(2)  Shen Men – reduces anxiety and nervousness

(3)  Kidney Point – for calming fears and healing internal organs

(4)  Liver Point – for detoxification, blood purification, and to quell aggression

(5)  Lung Point – promotes aeration and helps clients let go of grief

When the acupressure seeds are in place, she offers verbally guided relaxation, aromatherapy and sound healing. By providing a space for deep relaxation, the body has the opportunity to heal itself and foster resilience.

As the weather continues to treat us well, Heather plans to move her sessions to our outdoor courtyard. She has commented on her gratitude for the guests being so welcoming and trusting in this experience. Her expertise has been a needed and welcomed addition to our Friday nights at the shelter.
